Quiet Cars Make Debut On Metro-North Railroad
HARTSDALE, NY (WCBS 880) - If tranquility on the train is what you seek - an escape from inconsiderate cell phone shouters and blabbing, blathering bozos - Metro-North hears you loud and clear.

They introduced quiet cars on the Hudson and Harlem Line during this morning's rush hour and they will be in effect during the afternoon rush.
"When you're on the 4:58, and you get home at 7:30 at night, you want the quiet car," said one commuter.
"I wish they would do that to all the cars. You had a hard day, or you're up very early in the morning and you just want to collect yourself, and it's a good place to probably be," said another.
A "Q" on the timetable will indicate a train with a quiet car, which will be the last one on trains going in for the morning commute, the first car for the trip home.

Approximately 31 trains that operate between Grand Central and Poughkeepsie, Beacon, and Wassaic will have designated quiet cars.
According to the MTA, customers traveling on quiet cars should:
- Not use cell phones.
- Disable sound features on computers & other electronic devices.
- Conduct conversations in a subdued voice.
- Use headphones at a volume that cannot be heard by fellow passengers.
