Queens Woman Displaced By Sandy Desperate To Find Missing Dog
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Queens woman who said she lost everything in Superstorm Sandy is now desperately trying to find the one thing she had left -- her dog.
Michelle Brosh was displaced from her first floor apartment in Rockaway Beach during the storm and has since been staying with friends with her dog Stella in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn.
But Thursday night, Stella ran out of the house and was hit by a car. The lab-dachschund mix then got up and ran off.
"It's crazy surreal that this could happen after everything that we've been through," Brosh said. "To lose literally the only thing that survived the storm -- this dog."
Brosh is desperate to find Stella and bring her home.
"It's really important to me to find my dog," an emotional Brosh said fighting back tears. "We just really want to extend this net out as far as we can so hopefully somebody will see her and pick her up."
She said Stella was last seen on Macon Street heading towards Bushwick Avenue.
Stella is all black with short legs and long body and has a bald spot on her belly. She may also be wounded.
As for her apartment, Brosh said the house she lived in was not insured and they are receiving no help from FEMA.
