Queens Resident Heejun Han's TV Performance Irks Judge Steven Tyler

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Queens resident Heejun Han took on Long Island's Billy Joel Wednesday night, much to the apparent dismay of "American Idol" judge Steven Tyler.

Han covered Joel's classic "My Life" with his characteristic sense of humor and whimsy on full display.

Han started his performance wearing a tuxedo shirt and jacket, singing a low, emotional note accompanied by a piano. He appeared to be about to break out into an emotional ballad.

"Wait... that's just much to slow for me, and I want to dance!" Han said, tearing the tuxedo top off, and breaking into Joel's song.

The crowd seemed to eat it up, particularly when he approached to sing directly to the judges and moved to air-kiss Jennifer Lopez's hand.

Jennifer Lopez expressed satisfaction with his performance.

"It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it," Lopez said.

Tyler was less generous.

"He-Man, you know... I'm a little tongue tied. Are you happy that you took the piss out of that song?" said Tyler. "I'm glad you did. I hope it made you feel good inside, but ... the music business will kick your ass. At some point you gotta try and take it more serious."

"I was just happy to see you have a good time," said Randy Jackson. "I was entertained."
