Gas Leak Prompts Evacuation Of Several Buildings In Ozone Park
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Several buildings in Queens were evacuated due to a gas leak Monday morning.
The incident began at 7:45 a.m. when an odor of gas was reported at 118th Street and Liberty Avenue in Ozone Park.
The nearby overhead A subway train line was shut in the area but has since been restored.
National Grid said they identified the source of the leak at around 11:45 a.m. and are in the process of capping it.
Power was switched off to customers on the street during the search for the leak.
