Queens Community Celebrates Supreme Court Ruling On Same-Sex Marriage
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A day after the Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage, gay couples all over the country, including in Queens, are celebrating.
"Finally we have marriage equality," said City Councilman Daniel Dromm.
Dromm led a group outside the Jackson Heights Post Office Saturday in celebration of the Supreme Court decision, 1010 WINS' Roger Stern reported.

The councilman was joined by LGBT activists, including Brendan Fay, who used to help gay couples travel to Canada before same-sex marriage was made legal in the United States.
"Liberty and justice for all finally has true meaning for the LGBT community," he said. "When I left Ireland in the 80's, it was a criminal offense to be gay and when I arrived in this country, on the immigration forms you could be denied entry simply for being gay."
Fay said after moving to New York and meeting Tom Molton, he had to cross the border into Canada to get married in 2003, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

"It is hard to fathom for so many people what this means for us to grow up as a second class citizen, to have conceal and hide who you are," he said.
The group cut a symbolic wedding cake as a way to celebrate something that so many in the community had fought for, for so long.
