Public Pianos Returning To New York City
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - The pianos will be out for those who can play a little and those who can really play.
Pianos will be placed in public spaces in New York City starting on June 18.
Camille Zamora, co-founder of Sing for Hope says, "For so many people, I think it's just such a New York moment and a New York story to have people gathering around an instrument."
"To me, it sums up what music is about, what art is about, which is pulling us together, showing us our commonalities," says Zumara.
They'll have more than the 60 pianos they had out last year. "We chose 88 because 88 keys on a keyboard," she says.

Each of the keyboards will be designed by a different New York artist.
Annamarie Trombetta is one of them. Last year, she loved seeing the impact.
"It was really great to see people standing around, watching somebody perform," says Trombetta, whose piano will depict the past, present, and future of the World Trade Center.
