Public Hearing Planned On Yonkers Nuisance Law
YONKERS, NY (WCBS 880) - The bill is aimed at cracking down on slumlords, but Yonkers City Council President Chuck Lesnick says the public nuisance abatement law is flawed.

"We hope the mayor vetoes the bill," Lesnick tells WCBS 880 reporter Catherine Cioffi.
The bill would allow police to impose penalties and sanctions on landlords whose properties are repeatedly the scene of arrests.
Lesnick says, if passed, the law, which he calls too broad, would allow police to potentially abuse certain property owners.
"It provides too much administrative discretion. It's constitutionally vague and could subject Yonkers to legal challenges," says Lesnick.
Meanwhile, those in favor of the bill say that good landlords have nothing to worry about.
