Investigators secretly arrested two women, Mhairiangela Bottone and Catherine DeVries, described as high class hookers. They were released without bail.
A third cooperating individual is identified as John Doe, a Russian-born U.S. citizen charged with money laundering and promoting prostitution.
That man has appeared in closed hearings before judge Juan Merchan at least a dozen times. In the only one of those hearings that wasn't sealed, prosecutors got a search warrant for the apartment at 304 East 78th Street, where Gristina is alleged to have run her prostitution ring.
Investigators went to the apartment looking for toothbrushes and hair brushes for DNA testing to try and identity people had used the apartment that prosecutors described as an Upper East Side brothel.
Gristina remains behind bars pending a judge's ruling on bail. Her co-defendant, Jaynie Mae Baker, surrendered earlier this week and pleaded not guilty to helping run the prostitution ring.
