Property Taxes Might Increase For Some Greenwich Owners
GREENWICH, Conn. (WCBS 880) -- It used to be a trade-off: buying a house near a noisy, polluted highway in exchange for low property taxes, but that's coming to an end.
Property owners enduring the noise and nuisance of I-95 were among the Greenwich taxpayers who have enjoyed a break, but the town's assessor told The Greenwich Time that some of the arraignments appeared flawed.

A town-wide revaluation is a chance to bring in new eyes and viewpoints. Realtor Mark Pruner who blogs at GreenwichStreets.com seemed surprised. The average assessment in town is said to be down more than 11.5-percent.
"In this reassessment we've got a new tax assessor who overall is doing a good job, but you have these judgment calls," he said. "Most people have looked at prices as being down 18 to 25 percent. That is off the 2007 high which I think is what some people are missing."
Some discounts are said to have been completely removed and the appeals could soon heat up.
