Private Memorial For Bob Simon Being Held At Met Opera House
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A private memorial for veteran CBS News reporter Bob Simon is planned for Tuesday at the Metropolitan Opera House.
Representatives of CBS News and the Met said Saturday that the service is intended for family and close friends. A larger public service will be held at a later date.

Simon, 73, died Wednesday in a car crash on the West Side Highway. Police said he suffered fatal injuries when he was thrown from the back to the front of a livery cab when the car careened out of control near 30th Street.
The longtime "60 Minutes'' correspondent was known for covering wars and conflicts. But he was also a music lover who reported on several opera stories during his career.
He is survived by his wife, Francoise, and their daughter, Tanya, who is a producer for "60 Minutes." He adored his grandson, Jack and was expecting another grandchild — Simon's daughter is six months pregnant.
At the time of his death, he was working with his daughter on a report about the search for a cure for Ebola.
