Power Problems Temporarily Shut Down New York Aquarium
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The New York Aquarium said it had to close unexpectedly on Sunday due to power issues.
All of the life-support systems at the Coney Island facility were working and the animals were not impacted by the situation, the aquarium said.
Though it remains unclear what caused the power problems, the aquarium's website said it reopened to visitors at 3 p.m.
The aquarium is run by the Wildlife Conservation Society, which also operates the Bronx, Central Park, Prospect Park and Queens zoos.
The notice on the New York Aquarium website said they expect to hold normal business hours on Monday.
