Pothole after pothole on the Hempstead Turnpike near Wantagh Avenue have given new meaning to the saying "hang on, it's going to be a bumpy ride," WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.
The bumps and holes are nearly impossible to avoid in the road's right hand lane where many drivers were left clutching their steering wheels and hoping to avoid flat tires.
The State DOT said that they plan to finish the roadway by the end of the year. For now, they will continue to patch up the potholes.
