Port Authority Bus Terminal Evacuated Due To Suspicious Package
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Port Authority Bus Terminal was evacuated Monday evening, after someone found a package of what looked like grenades, police said.
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police told WCBS 880 that the package prompted an evacuation of the terminal and the presence of the bomb squad.
The bomb squad examined the package, and found that the grenades were replicas.
The evacuation lasted about 45 minutes, police told WCBS 880.
By 9:10 p.m., the bus terminal was back to operating normally. It was not immediately learned if the evacuation necessitated the cancellation of any bus runs.
