Port Authority Tables Vote On Proposed $29.1 Billion Plan For New Bus Terminal
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It could be a little while longer before commuters see any progress on a new Port Authority Bus Terminal.
New York and New Jersey lawmakers have argued over how much the new bus terminal should cost and which side of the Hudson River it should be on.
The board decided Thursday it will not publish a plan for public comment until a consensus is reached.
With the tabling of a vote on the agency's proposed $29.1 billion capital plan, the start of the project is nowhere in sight, WCBS 880's Kelly Waldron reported.
Port Authority Chairman John Degnan said there is a silver lining.
"It's important to note that this draft capital plan includes the requested $3.5 billion for a new bus terminal on the West Side of Manhattan," he said.
While it's far less than what was originally discussed, Degnan said both governors agreed on the number.
He admitted though, additional money may have to be spent after 10 years.
