Poll: New Jersey Voters Divided Over 2nd Term For President Obama
TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Registered voters surveyed in New Jersey are nearly evenly split over whether President Barack Obama deserves re-election.
A Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday shows 47 percent of respondents said the president deserves re-election, while 48 percent were against it.
The poll does give the president an edge in head-to-head matchups against top Republicans.
Respondents gave Obama advantages of between six and 13 percentage points over leading Republicans Mitt Romney, Herman Cain and Rick Perry. The survey was conducted before Gov. Chris Christie endorsed Romney on Tuesday.
Those polled overwhelmingly agreed with Christie's decision to end a state tax credit for the MTV's "Jersey Shore" reality show.
The poll of 1,200 registered voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.
