Poll: Most New Jersey Voters Expect Christie To Make Presidential Run
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Gov. Chris Christie said he hasn't decided on if he will run in the 2016 presidential election, but a new poll says most New Jersey voters-- 57 percent-- expect him to go for it.
"There's really no other good reason for a New Jersey governor to spend time in places like he has," Rutgers-Eagleton pollster David Redlawsk said.
Redlawsk told WCBS 880's Jim Smith only 29 percent believe he won't try for the White House.

But nearly half of New Jersey voters, 48 percent, feel Gov. Christie's decisions at home are being crafted through the lens of 2016.
"For example, perhaps detailing gun control legislation, which is not particularly popular with the right," Redlawsk said.
But even with his out-of-state travel, more than half say that has no affect on his ability to be governor, Smith reported.
Gov. Christie's overall approval stand at 52 percent.
In a hypothetical presidential race, another Rutgers-Eagleton poll showed New Jersey voters would choose Hillary Clinton over Gov. Chris Christie. The poll found Clinton would win New Jersey by 10 points.
