Poll: Most In Garden State Want To Visit Jersey Shore
TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A new poll finds nearly two in three New Jerseyans plan on visiting the Jersey shore this year, but there's no consensus on which beach is best.
The Monmouth University/NJ Press Media poll out Thursday finds 65 percent of respondents plan to visit the shore. That's down slightly from last year.
Nearly half of them say the shore visit will be their main vacation trip this year.
As for a favorite spot, 9 percent mentioned either The Wildwoods or Point Pleasant Beach, followed closely by Long Beach Island, Ocean City and Cape May. Ten percent said they couldn't choose one town.
The telephone poll of 807 adult residents was conducted from May 12-16 and has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
