Poll: Gov. Malloy's Approval Rating On The Rise
HARTFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) - The latest Quinnipiac University poll shows Gov. Dan Malloy with an approval rating of 48 percent, his highest since taking office.
The numbers jump higher when voters are asked about the governor's response in a crisis. 67 percent responded favorably while 76 percent six gave strong approval for the governor's response to the Newtown massacre.
Poll Director Doug Schwartz told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau that the governor also gets good marks for his efforts on gun control.

"And he also stands in contrast to the Legislature, which has not been able to come up with a plan. Gov. Malloy has come out for a plan for stricter gun control," Schwartz told Scheindau.
Schwartz said the poll shows most voters want stricter gun control laws, but many registered displeasure with the Legislatures inability to act on gun legislation.
"When we asked people 'Do you want stricter gun control laws?' Overwhelmingly, two-thirds said yes. 'Do you think the governor and the state Legislature will agree on measures to help reduce gun violence in the state?' On that one, it was an even split. People really aren't sure that's it's really gonna get done."
42 percent in the poll said Malloy deserves to be re-elected, but 45 percent said he doesn't deserve another four years in office.
The survey of 1,114 registered voters, conducted March 7-10. The survey has a margin of sampling error of 2.9 percentage points.
