Poll: Gov. Cuomo Approval Rating Increases After Budget
ALBANY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The first poll since New York's cost-cutting state budget was adopted on time shows even the long ridiculed state Legislature is viewed better, even though citizens see themselves as losers.
The Siena College poll shows Gov. Andrew Cuomo increased his already high approval rating. Cuomo is viewed favorably by 73 percent of voters and unfavorably by 18 percent, up from 69-20 percent last month. But the poll also shows 41 percent feel New Yorkers are losers in the budget that cut spending by 2 percent. Just 27 percent feel New Yorkers are winners.
Siena's Steven Greenberg said it appears New Yorkers view the budget as medicine that tastes bad, but is necessary.
Forty-four percent of voters feel better about the Legislature.
The poll questioned 777 registered voters from April 4-6 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
