Poll: GOP Support Waning For Gov. Cuomo
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The latest poll shows New York's Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo is losing some of his strong support among Republicans, while gaining Democratic and independent support.
Pollster Lee Miringoff said such a partisan divide even for the popular governor after six months in office is common.
Overall, the NY1/YNN/Marist College Poll shows Cuomo has a still very high favorability rating of 67 percent. That's down from 72 percent in May.
His job performance rating of 56 percent is better than May's 54 percent.
Republicans helped give the Democrat a near record winning margin in November. But Republican support dropped in favorability, job performance, leadership and whether Albany is changing.
The poll questioned 600 adults July 28-31. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 points.
