Poll: Christie Earns Highest Approval Rating Of Any New Jersey Governor In History
TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie gets a record sky-high approval rating, a poll released Tuesday from Quinnipiac University found.
The governor's approval rating is now at 72 percent, the highest score ever recorded by Quinnipiac for a New Jersey governor.
"Gov. Christopher Christie never looked more like a 'Jersey Guy' than when he stood on the Seaside boardwalk after Sandy, and, just about unanimously, his New Jersey neighbors - Republicans, Democrats, Independents - applauded," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

This record high approval comes on the heels of New York City registered voters giving Christie top marks for his handling of superstorm Sandy.
Just last week, a different Quinnipiac poll found 89 percent of New York City voters said Christie's response was "excellent" or "good," a higher mark than Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and President Obama.
Carroll said the new approval rating was an across-the-board success for Christie.
"The Gov gets sky-high marks from the cities, the Shore, from every corner of the state," Carroll said in a release.
Christie's previous high approval rating of 59 percent was in an April 11, 2012 Quinnipiac poll.
On Monday, Christie filed papers to run for re-election saying it would be wrong for him to leave now with the state still facing challenges from Sandy.
A Rutgers-Eagleton poll also found nearly six in 10 registered voters support a second term for Christie. The poll also showed Christie with a 67 percent approval rating.
The Quinnipiac poll of 1,664 registered voters was conducted from Nov. 19 to 25 and has an error margin of 2.4 percentage points.
The Rutgers-Eagleton poll of 1,108 registered voters was conducted from Nov. 14 to 17 and has an error margin of 2.9 percentage points.
