Police: Woman Who Hit Westchester Cop With Car Was Sober
SCARSDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 63-year-old Massachusetts woman was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol Saturday when she struck a Westchester County police officer with her car on the Hutchinson River Parkway as he aided a motorist, police said.
The officer remained hospitalized Sunday in stable condition at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
Westchester County said in a release Sunday that drug and alcohol tests were negative. No charges were filed, and an investigation continues.
The officer and his patrol car were struck when the officer was outside his vehicle about 9:30 p.m. as he assisted a motorist near Mamaroneck Road in Scarsdale, police said. He had closed a lane for a tow truck that had arrived at the scene.
Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino said the officer's injuries, though serious, were not life-threatening.
