Police: Woman Slashed, Robbed On Brooklyn Subway Platform
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a man they say robbed a woman before slashing her across the face aboard a subway platform in Bedford-Stuyvesant Wednesday evening.
Police sources say the 51-year-old victim was on a platform along the A and C lines in the area of Fulton and Nostrand avenues around 6 p.m. when a man in his 30's approached her and grabbed her cellphone.
After snatching the phone, the suspect slashed her across the left side of the face before fleeing the station, according to police sources.
Witness Joel Cabrera was nearby when the slashing happened. He says it took no more than five minutes for police to arrive.
"They wrapped everything," another witness told CBS2's Valerie Castro. "They wrapped her whole face and they took her out on a stretcher."
The victim was rushed to Kings County Hospital Center in serious but stable condition, according to police.
Investigators remained on scene late Wednesday inspecting the platform and outside the station for clues.
The suspect is described as a black male with a beard who was last seen wearing a red and blue jacket, according to police sources.
Police sources tell CBS2 authorities are also reviewing video from the station turnstiles to try and identify the suspect.
No arrests have been made as the investigation is ongoing.
