Police: White Powder At Crowne Plaza Hotel Not Dangerous
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD was called in to investigate a report of white powder at a hotel in Times Square on Saturday.
Police told 1010 WINS that a guest gave a desk worker at the Crowne Plaza Hotel an envelope with a room key and that white powder apparently fell out of the envelope.
Hazmat crews rushed to the hotel but investigators told CBS 2 that the substance was not dangerous.
On Friday, FBI and HAZMAT crews responded to reports of suspicious packages at hotels in Bergen County. Those packages were filled with a white powder that turned out to be corn starch.
