Police: West Babylon Grandfather Arrested, Charged With DWI With Kids In Car
WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police say a West Babylon man has been charged under Leandra's Law for driving while intoxicated with his grandchildren in the car.
Craig Monte, 59, was arrested Sunday, charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child 15 or younger, a felony under Leandra's Law. He also faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child.
Suffolk County police say they got a call around 5 p.m. Sunday about a man who was possibly drunk and screaming at two children at a park in West Babylon.
When police arrived, cops say they found Monte driving in the parking lot with his grandchildren, ages 5 and 9 in the car.
Monte is set to be arraigned Monday.
