Police: Uniondale Teen Arrested After Trying To Steal Student's iPhone
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A teenager has been arrested after trying to steal a Uniondale High School student's iPhone Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Around 3:30 p.m., police said Neal Compass Jr., 17, came up behind a boy walking home on Jerusalem Avenue and tried to snatch his iPhone out of his hands.
Police said the victim struggled with Compass and was able to hang on to his phone.
The victim then walked over to the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility where police said he saw an officer and reported the incident to him.
The victim was able to identify Compass who was arrested without incident, police said.
Following an investigation, police determined Compass was linked to an additional attempted robbery of another Uniondale High School student on March 22.
Compass has been charged with attempted robbery in the second and third degrees.
