Police: Truck With Toys For Sick Kids Stolen On Long Island
BAY SHORE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A truck filled with toys that were to be donated to children battling serious illnesses has been stolen on Long Island.
Suffolk County Police said the theft occurred sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday on South Fehr Way in Bay Shore.
"We couldn't believe it. We looked up and down the street, around the block and couldn't find it anywhere," CoCo Events Inc. owner Jim Cohn told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall.

Cohn and his staff had loaded the white 2002 Chevy box truck with a stuffing machine and about 350 stuffed bears that were to be delivered to patients at New York Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital on Tuesday.

"I'm not sure if they knew that there were bears on it or what the situation was, but I think that it's awful and crazy that anyone would think about stealing anyone's truck or merchandise," Cohn said.
Luckily, Tuesday's party went on as planned, 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera reported. Cohn said they scrambled, but managed to get new stuffed bears for the children.
"We spent a few hours trying to find places that we could call to make arrangements to pick up more bears so that we could get the job done and that's what we did," Cohn said. "It made all the kids happy so that was a good thing."
Police are now searching for the truck which they said has writing on the driver's door that says "TE 210 S. Fehr Way, Bay Shore."
The New York license plate on the truck is 34200MB.
