Police: Traffic Stop Leads To Kidnapping Charge For New Jersey Man
FORT LEE, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A New Jersey man is accused of holding two people against their will inside his car following a traffic stop near the George Washington Bridge.
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Joe Pentangelo said police stopped Luis Moreno Jr., of Elizabeth, in the carpool lane on Friday because they thought he was alone in the vehicle.
According to investigators, the 26-year-old told officers he had two passengers with him, but one of the passengers began yelling for help as he pulled away.
One alleged victim told police Moreno had agreed to drive him from Texas to Maryland, but then demanded more money upon arriving there.
Moreno has been charged with kidnapping and is being held on $1 million bail.
