Police: Man Wanted In Attempted Bed-Stuy Sex Assault Of 77-Year-Old Strikes Again

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Brooklyn have released a second surveillance video of a man wanted in connection with two attempted rapes targeting older women.

Investigators said the video shows the suspect outside a store in the Bedford Stuyvesant section. On Friday, he tried to force himself on a 61-year-old woman inside the store where she worked, police said.

She fought back and was taken to the hospital with a broken ankle and cuts on her face and arms.  Authorities said the suspect also stole cash from the store following the attempted rape.

Otis Hampton Jr.'s mother owns the business on the other side of the store where the woman was attacked.

"This guy who did this is really sick and he needs to be stopped and caught," Hampton Jr. told CBS '2 s Pablo Guzman.

Hampton Jr. said he knows the victim and that she is still in the hospital, adding that she sustained a broken ankle and lacerations to the face.

"I mean, he really beat her up pretty bad," he said.

Late last month in the same neighborhood, police say they believe the same man tried to rape a 77-year-old woman in another store.

That victim fought back as well.
