Police: Suspect Swiped Purses While Victims Rode Coney Island Roller Coasters
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday were searching for a suspect who has been swiping women's purses from a storage area, as they ride the roller coasters at Luna Park in Coney Island, Brooklyn.
Riders are asked to place their purses and bags in a storage area while riding the roller coasters at the amusement park, which include the iconic Cyclone and the new Thunderbolt. The suspect has stolen purses that six different women left behind for what was supposed to be safe keeping.
The thefts happened on:
Saturday, May 2, around 6 p.m. The victim was a 23-year-old woman;
Sunday, May 10, around 6 p.m. The victim was an 18-year-old woman;
Sunday, May 10, around 6 p.m. The victim was a 26-year-old woman;
Sunday, May 17, around 2:40 p.m. The victim was a 29-year-old woman;
Sunday, May 17, around 4 p.m. the victim was a 24-year-old woman;
Saturday, May 23, around 5 p.m. The victim was a 39-year-old woman.
The suspect was described as being light-complexioned. Police have released multiple photos.
