Police: Suspect Made Anti-Mexican Remarks In Attack On Man On No. 7 Train
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday were asking the public to assist in the search for a suspect who attacked a man on a No. 7 train in Queens while yelling anti-Mexican statements.
Around 4 p.m. this past Sunday, the 43-year-old victim, who is Hispanic, was headed north on the No. 7 train when the suspect walked up and punched him twice, and then made anti-Mexican remarks, police said.
The suspect hopped off the train at the Court Square station in Long Island City, police said.
The victim suffered bruises to his nose and a laceration to his lip, but refused medical aid at the scene, police said.
The suspect was described as a black male, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 165 pounds.
Police have released a sketch of the suspect, and have classified the incident as a bias attack.
