Police: Suspect Beat Man With Pipe, Sent Him Falling Onto Subway Tracks
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Monday were asking for help from the public in finding a suspect who beat a man with a pipe at a Brooklyn subway station and sent him crashing down onto the tracks.
Around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, the 35-year-old man was sitting on a bench at the northbound C Train platform at the Ralph Avenue stop in Bedford-Stuyvesant, police said. The suspect bashed the man in the head several times with the pipe, causing him to fall onto the tracks, police said.
The suspect then ran off along the tracks, while paramedics took the victim to Interfaith Medical Center.
He was last reported in stable condition, with cuts to his head and a chipped tooth.
The suspect was described as a black male about 25 years old, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 150 pounds, with brown eyes and long black hair. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a brown jacket, and blue jeans.
Police have released a surveillance photo of the suspect.
