Police: Squatter Killed In Fire At Vacant Central Islip Home
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating a fire that killed a squatter in a vacant home in Central Islip.
A passing motorist called 911 to report the blaze at 23 Sycamore Street just after 5 a.m. Thursday.
Intense fire and smoke conditions prevented firefighters from entering the home, police said.
The body of a man was found in the basement after the fire was extinguished, police said. He has not been identified.

Suffolk County homicide and arson detectives are investigating the fire.
