Police: Six Arrested In Connection With Kidnapping, Murder Of Jersey City Mother
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Six suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a Jersey City mother of five.
Regina Baker, 29, was found dead inside a vacant townhouse on June 19 on South 15th Street in Newark, authorities said. She was shot multiple times after being abducted in Jersey City, according to police.
"This was a particularly vicious crime," Jersey City Police Chief Thomas Comey said in a statement. "It also serves to demonstrate the mobility of the criminal element of our society."
Four of the suspects, 23-year-old Omar Martin, 23-year-old Karon Adams, 36-year-old Damon Zengotita and 37-year-old Michelle Paden are charged with murder, kidnapping and weapons offenses.
The two other suspects, 19-year-old Dabia Younger and 30-year-old Francheska DePena are charged with kidnapping.
"While our first priority was to arrest these dangerous and violent criminals, it was equally important to bring them to justice," Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio said in a statement.
The investigation is still ongoing.
