Police Shoot Suspect In Arm In Harlem

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Officers shot a 30-year-old man in the arm after he got out of an SUV with a handgun during a traffic stop in Harlem, police said.

The incident happened at 125th Street and 12th Avenue just after 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said members of the Drug Enforcement Task Force pulled a vehicle over and opened fire when a front passenger got out armed with a gun. It wasn't clear how many shots were fired.

The suspect was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, where he was treated and released. Police say charges are pending against him.

Four others also have been taken into custody.

A .40 caliber Taurus handgun was recovered at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
