Police Shoot, Kill Robbery Suspect In Leonia, N.J.
LEONIA, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police shot and killed a robbery suspect Sunday in Leonia, N.J.
Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli announced Sunday evening that the incident had happened several hours earlier in the Hillside Avenue area of Leonia after a reported attempt of an armed robbery.
The man was suspected of robbing a CVS store at knife-point late Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
A total of four officers from Leonia and Palisades Park responded to the scene and began following the suspect.
Three opened fire, hitting the suspect multiple times. It was not specified what the suspect did to prompt police to open fire.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's office identified the suspect as Rickey McFadden, 47.
The incident was being investigated Sunday night by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
