Police: Separate Bronx Shootings Leave 1 Dead, 4 Injured
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A teenager was killed and several other people were injured in two separate shootings just blocks apart in the Bronx overnight.
In the Wakefield section, someone opened fire around 1 a.m. at a large outdoor party, striking and killing a 16-year-old boy in the chest who was trying to run away from the scene, CBS 2's Janelle Burrell reported. Police identified the victim as Keshon Porterfield.
Authorities said there weren't any arguments or altercations leading up to the shooting on East 232nd Street, and it still isn't clear whether the teen was the intended target.

"That was my brother," the victim's sister told Burrell. "He got murdered out here cold in the streets. He did not deserve that at all."
The boy's uncle, Pastor Franklin Porterfield, described the mother's anguish.
"This is her son," he said. "This is her baby boy. She's devastated. But she's also believing God. That's our hope right now."
The Porterfield siblings lost their father less than two years ago. They said that Keshon was wrapping up his junior year of high school. Now, they're preparing for his funeral.
A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene, 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck reported. That person was being questioned on Sunday night.
A 17-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were also struck by bullets in the legs. Police say their injuries are not life-threatening.
Valerie Gooden told Schuck her daughter was among those struck. She said the girl also ran when she heard gunshots, but fell to the ground and realized she had been shot.
"I just hope that they just stop," the mother said. "They're too young to waste their lives. They're too young. Too many guns out here. Just too many guns."
Police recovered a gun from the front lawn of the scene, that weapon was later determined to be an air gun.
About an hour earlier in the Edenwald Houses, two men in their 30s were shot in the legs. They were rushed to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition.
Police are still searching for the gunman in that shooting.
