Police Seek Suspects In String Of Queens Store Robberies
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday were asking the public to help them find the suspects in three robberies in Queens in recent weeks.
Police first identified the suspects in a robbery at a salon at 220-06 Hempstead Ave. in Queens Village, at 7:25 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1. The suspects, all carrying guns, entered salon and forced the clerks to the back, police said.
The suspects took money, cellphones and hair care products and left. No one was injured, police said.
An investigation by the NYPD Queens Robbery Squad later led to evidence that the suspects were also responsible for two other commercial robberies in Queens.
On Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m., two of the suspects – one of them carrying a gun, stormed into the Mejia Deli at 113-27 Farmers Blvd. in St. Albans, Queens. One suspect held the clerks back with the threat of a gun, while another jumped behind the counter and took an undetermined amount of cash and the clerk's wallet.
There were no injuries, police said.
And the thieves struck again at 10:25 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, police said. This time, two suspects – both with guns – entered the Farmer's Deli Grocery, at 114-25 Farmers Blvd. in St. Albans, Quens, and demanded money from the clerk, police said.
The clerk handed over an undetermined amount of money, police said. There were no reports of injuries.
Police have released surveillance photos from two of the incidents.
