Police Seek Suspect In Attempted Kidnapping Of Girl, 16, In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Sunday were seeking the suspect who allegedly tried to kidnap a 16-year-old girl while she waited for a bus in the Bronx.
The attempted kidnapping happened around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, as the girl waited for the Bx36 Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus at the corner of Randall and Olmstead avenues in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx, police said.
A man pulled up in a white cargo van and stopped in front of the girl, police said. He opened the side door, and grabbed the girl's arm in an attempt to drag her into the van, according to police.
The girl fought off the suspect and ran away. She was not injured, police said.
The suspect drove off east on Randall Avenue toward Castle Hill Avenue, police said.
The suspect was described as a male Hispanic standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 180 to 200 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and a dark blue Yankees hat.
Police have released a sketch of the suspect.
