Police Searching For Suspects In 8 Queens Robberies
NEW YORK (CBS New York) -- Police are on the hunt for as many as five men who have been pulling off a string of armed robberies in Queens.
There have been at least eight hold-ups since last month.
Among the targets were two hotels, a grocery store and a bodega.
Victims said the thieves, who often wear face masks and black clothing, attack at night.
Ravin Kumar, who works at the Bagels & Superette on Union Turnpike, said the recent attack at the store was all the workers were talking about.
"Four guys came inside, two jumped over the counter and hold the guy here. And another two go other side," Kumar told CBS 2's Demetra Ganias, "in the night, the convenience store job is very dangerous nowadays."
Nobody has been hurt in the incidents and some in the community are surprised to hear about the brazen bandits.
"It's a nice neighborhood, it's unusual that something like that would happen," one man said.
The most recent robbery was last Saturday shortly after 3 a.m. at a Dunkin Donuts on the Grand Central Parkway.
