Police Search For Suspect Who Robbed 4 Stores Around Manhattan
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching for a suspect Thursday night in a string of robberies around Manhattan.
The robberies happened last month in businesses on the Upper East and West sides, in Kips Bay, and near Madison Square Park, police said.
The first incident happened around 9 p.m. Sept. 4 at a Subway sandwich shop at 12 W. 25th St. between Fifth and Sixth avenues. The suspect brandished a gun and demanded money from an employee, who handed over an undetermined amount of money, police said.
Around 10:50 p.m. Sept. 24, the robber struck again at Infinity News, at 837 Lexington Ave. near 64th Street, police said. The suspect brandished a firearm and demanded money, and the victim handed over $4,000, police said.
The robber next struck around 11:40 p.m. Sept. 28 at Food Corp., at 426 Amsterdam Ave. near 81st Street. The suspect again brandished a firearm and demanded money, and the victim handed over $400, police said.
The most recent incident happened at 12:25 a.m. Sept. 9 at the Central Deli, at 512 Second Ave. near 29th Street. The suspect once more brandished a gun and demanded money, and an employee handed over $1,000.
The suspect was described as a black male standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded jacket and a multicolored baseball hat, police said.
