FBI Agent's Car Found After Theft In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An FBI agent's car was found abandoned Wednesday, the day after it was stolen in Queens.
The vehicle was stolen around 8 p.m. Tuesday on Sutter Avenue near 130th Street in South Ozone Park, 1010 WINS reported.
The vehicle was found at Yellowstone Boulevard and Kessel Street in Forest Hills, Queens, on Wednesday, police said.
A law enforcement official said there was an M-4 assault rifle in the trunk of the gray 2010 Toyota Camry and possibly a bulletproof vest, WCBS 880's Alex Silverman reported. The rifle was reportedly in a locked box.
Police could not immediately say whether the rifle was still there Wednesday night. The thief was still at large.
FBI Agent's Car Stolen In Queens
The vehicle presumably belongs to the same agent who was involved in a shooting at the same corner last July, Silverman reported.
In that incident, the agent caught three suspects trying to break into his car and shot one of them in the back, Silverman reported.
The Queens district attorney's office investigated the shooting and decided the officer would not be charged criminally.
The FBI confirmed it is assisting in the search for the missing vehicle.
