Police Search For Driver In Elderly Hit-And-Run
NEW YORK (CBS 2) ― The manhunt is on for a suspect in a hit-and-run that left an 85-year-old man critically hurt.
Michael Ward was crossing First Avenue at 84th Street when he was mowed down at 5 p.m. Friday. He was less than three blocks from home.
Police worked through the night collecting evidence and talking to witnesses who may have seen the gold Maxima that ran him down and sped off.
"I'm not surprised because something the lights aren't long enough for elderly people to walk," said witness Fredda Stimell.
Another witness said: "I hope they catch him. I hope he turns himself in."
Ward is a retired doorman who lives alone. His sister is coming from Ireland to be at his side.
