Police: Robbers Struck Same Jackson Heights Apartment Twice
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Saturday were asking for help from the public in finding the suspects who allegedly robbed people in the same Queens apartment on two different days.
The first robbery at the apartment in the Jackson Heights section of Queens happened around 5:15 p.m. July 23, police said.
Four suspects – one of them armed with a black handgun – walked into the basement apartment through an unlocked front door and demanded money and other items, police said. The suspects took an undetermined amount of money and left, police said.
A 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy were home at the time and were not injured, police said.
This past Friday, two of the suspects returned to the same apartment, police said. This time, they knocked on the door and claimed to be police officers.
The victims allowed the suspects to enter, and when they did, they zip-tied a 35-year-old man in the apartment, police said. A 26-year-old man in the apartment got into a struggle with the suspects and was shot in the left leg, police said.
The victim who was shot was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where his condition was reported as stable, police said.
Police released a surveillance photo of the suspects in the first robbery, and a video of them in the second. They were described only as four Hispanic males.
