Police: Robber Struck 4 Times In Southern, Southeastern Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Friday released a sketch of a suspect in a string of robberies in southern and southeastern Brooklyn last month.
The robberies happened in the Marine Park, Mill Basin, Gravesend and Sheepshead Bay sections of Brooklyn between Sept. 6 and Sept. 17, police said.
The first incident happened around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, between Gerritsen Avenue and Stuart Street in Marine Park. A 67-year-old man was parking his car in a garage when the suspect came up, pointed a gun at his head, and demanded his property, police said.
The suspect took the victim's watch, ring and cellphone and took off north on Gerritsen Avenue to eastbound Avenue R, where he hopped into a white Acura TL that had been waiting for him as a getaway vehicle, police said.
On Wednesday, Sept. 10, around 10:55 a.m., the robber struck again in front of 325 Whitman Dr. in Mill Basin, police said. The suspect came up to a 35-year-old woman who was getting out of her vehicle, pointed a gun at her, and demanded her watch, police said.
The suspect made off with the watch, as well as the woman's wallet containing $300 and credit cards, police said.
The third incident happened around 9:35 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, near West First Street and Village Road South in Gravesend, police said. The suspect walked up to a 56-year-old man coming out of a driveway, flashed a gun, and took the man's wedding ring and watch.
The suspect fled north on West First Street and got into an unknown getaway vehicle, police said.
The final incident happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, on Avenue Z and Batchelder Street in Sheepshead Bay.
The suspect walked up to a 78-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman, flashed a gun, and took their watch before running off, police said.
No one was injured in the robberies.
Police have released a sketch of the suspect. He is described as a black male in his mid-20s, standing 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall with a light complexion. He was last seen wearing rectangular glasses and was slightly unshaven, police said.
