Police Resuscitate Off-Duty Officer Who Passed Out During Softball Game In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police this week worked to save a member of their own force when he began suffering chest pains while playing in a softball game.
Around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, off-duty officers were playing in the Police Commissioner��s Softball Game in Cunningham Park, on the cusp of Fresh Meadows and Bayside, Queens, police said.
The 51-year-old officer began suffering chest pains and went unconscious, police said. Responding uniformed officers from the 103rd and 107th precincts, and other off-duty officers playing in the game, quickly attended to the officer.
The officer regained consciousness through the use of an automated external defibrillator in an NYPD vehicle and through CPR, police said.
Paramedics took the officer to Jamaica Hospital Center, where he was reported in stable condition.
