Police Rescue Woman, 49, Found Floating In East River
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday brought a 49-year-old woman to safety after she was found floating in the East River under the Manhattan Bridge.
The woman was discovered around 3:30 p.m., and Emergency Service officers were joined by detectives James Coll and Frank Stevens in coming to the rescue.
The officers dove into the water and swam out about 30 feet from the Manhattan shoreline. They brought the woman aboard an NYPD Harbor Launch boat, police said.
The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where her condition was listed as stable.
