Police Release Sketch Of Suspect Who Posed As UPS Worker In Elmont Burglary

ELMONT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police have released the sketch of a man who they say impersonated a UPS worker to burglarize a home in Elmont earlier this week.

The suspect was holding a box and wearing a brown UPS jacket, jeans and a brown skull cap when he rang the doorbell of a home on Barbara Street shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

The suspect dropped the package he was carrying and pulled out a gun when a 35-year-old woman -- who was home with her 9-month-old son and her husband's 52-year-old aunt -- answered the door, police said.

The suspect then bound the women with plastic ties, ransacked the home and stole jewelry, credit cards, liquor and other items before fleeing, police said.

No one was hurt.

The suspect is described as a black man, between 20 and 25 years old, approximately 6-feet-tall with a slim build.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-244-TIPS.
