Cops: Woman, 90, Struck By Bus In NJ Hit-And-Run
FORT LEE, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A pocketbook and cane lay near the curb of a street in Fort Lee – the evidence of a hit-and-run that sent an elderly woman to the hospital and police on the search for an Academy bus driver.
Fort Lee Police Captain Roy Bortolus said a 90-year-old woman was struck while attempting to get onto a bus as its doors were closing at Main and John Streets at 8:50 a.m. Friday.

The woman was sent crashing to the pavement after she was struck by the bus as it pulled away from the stop. Bortolus said it is not clear whether the driver knew he had struck someone.
The victim was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center. Her condition is unknown.
Bortolus said they have the number of the bus and the route. The bus company has been contacted. Investigators may retrace the bus route to interview additional witnesses or regular riders.
The Bergen County Prosecutors Office is investigating.
