Newark Man Charged In Hit-Run That Killed Pedestrian
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested and charged a man in connection with a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian dead Sunday morning in Newark.
The victim, 29-year-old Khendrai Williams, of East Orange, was struck and killed around 12:30 a.m. at McCarter Highway and Market Street, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.
An older-model SUV was spotted leaving the scene, and then two cars got into an accident at the same spot, 1010 WINS' Derricke Dennis reported.
Williams was rushed to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office said at some point later in the day, NJ State Police troopers located the suspected vehicle on a street near the Passaic River in Newark.
Following an investigation, 27-year-old Andy Soto, of Newark, was charged in connection with the hit-and-run, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Fennelly of the Prosecutor's Homicide Unit.
Fennelly said Soto is charged with vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and failure to render aid to an injured victim.
Bail was set at $100,000 and Soto was remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility pending arraignment, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.
